Domeniile Franco-Române Print
Domeniile Franco-Române (DFR) was founded by Denis Thomas, a Burgundy-based owner and winemaker, with the aim of creating Romanian wines with a French touch. Romania’s first organic wine was produced in 2006.
Today, owned by the Olariu family, the winery has expanded through the “Domeniile Persu-Eminescu” vineyards, which have belonged to Mihnea Olariu’s great-grandparents since the 1840s: Alexandru Persu, an agricultural engineer and respected mayor of the commune of Tohani, and Ecaterina Eminescu, the granddaughter of the poet Mihai Eminescu.
Today, Franco-Romanian Domains means organic wines with a Romanian soul and French elegance, wines that tell the story of a vineyard built with respect for nature, tradition, and people.
